The Old Wash House
There may be a second room for two available by arrangement, please ask.
Cottage Holidays of Two, Three, Four, Seven, Ten days or More!
- The Old Wash House is special! It can be booked on its own and also in conjunction with our other cottages at Beechenhill Farm.
- From March to November its changeover days are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays so we offer three day weekends and two day and four week day breaks, as well as weeks, 10 days and more. It is a supremely flexible cottage.
- From November to March breaks are completely flexible with a two nights minimum.
- For two people or by special arrangement it may be possible to have an extra en-suite bedroom for two in addition.
Through the Old Wash House Door
You have a small entrance hall with hanging space for coats, a cosy sitting room with log stove, books (and a big flat telly if you need it). This leads to a warm and spacious kitchen-dining room.
The light and comfortable kitchen dining room, with its glass roof used to be the old barrel ceilinged wash house with an old copper for heating the water. Now it has a small, simple but well equipped kitchen and a big table where you can relax and watch the cows go to and fro to milking.
The back door, leads up old stone steps to a tiny patio area with garden furniture, but, of course you can also enjoy the big country garden at the front of the house too.
Really Comfortable Bed
Our first two guests wanted to buy the mattress! All our beds have beautifully laundered Egyptian cotton linen with quilts (or blankets if you prefer), so you can over-sleep in comfort. We are a bit fussy about pillows when we go away, so have provided several different types from which you can choose, including memory foam pillows (I can't sleep on anything else now!)
What Can We Do For You?
We can always dry wet clothes (if you have fallen off the stepping stones!), book you into the local pub with its fantastic local food menu (we will be jealous!) You can try our electric bikes or wander off on the network of walks from the door (we can show you the way). We can store your food in our big freezer (we promise not to eat it).
Warm and cosy
From the simply decorated en-suite bedroom you can gaze at wonderful views south over our lovely garden, and organic farm
with grazing cows and sheep.
Up above, the rooms are insulated with thick layers of sheep wool- actually from the sheep next door! So, with the wonderful heating from our wood pellet biomass boiler, whatever the weather you will be toasty warm (if you want to be, you do control the radiator!)
Give your car a holiday
We have two electric bikes for you to wizz about on, just hire them from us. You can buy local groceries and delicious, locally made ready-meals from the Farmhouse kitchen. You can walk to the pub and we will pick you up, by prior arrangement. Your organic milk can be delivered to your door, fresh from the cow and you can collect your own eggs!
Beechenhill Spa on our Organic Farm
On the days when you don't want to stir, My Personal Sanctuary can come to you..... and you can luxuriate under the stars in our out-door hot tub and wood fired barrel sauna.

Folk Art Workshops by Sue Prince, the resident folk artist, can enable you create an original egg tempera folk art painting. You paint your own story or get together to create a group work to celebrate a wedding, christening or anniversary! This is a perfect activity for hen parties, families and groups.
