Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast
Our home is a long low traditional farmhouse. Built from local limestone, it has been added to over the centuries since the 1500's. Our guests have their own entrance, sitting room with television and video, dining room and staircase leading to 2 beautifully decorated en-suite bedrooms with wonderful views south over our lovely garden, and organic farm with grazing cows and sheep.
From March to November we take bookings of two nights or more for bed and breakfast. From November to March, guests staying in our cottages sometimes book our B&B rooms on a room only basis to enable a couple of extra people to stay. We ask guests not to smoke in our house.
Children
We have cots and high chairs for our younger visitors. If you are a family party and want to book both our B&B bedrooms, children and babies are very welcome. However, we can only accommodate children over three years old if just one room is being booked. The Cottage by the Pond is ideal for families too.
Food
We take great pride in our farmhouse breakfasts, which are carefully and healthily prepared using local and organic produce where possible. Fruit, cereals and home-made yogurt feature along side a delicious traditional farmhouse breakfast (grilled rather than fried). Not forgetting the famous Beechenhill porridges!! Plus home-made bread, toasted with home-made jam - what more could you want to start your day?
The Double Bedroom
The sunny, blue and yellow double room has a lovely canopied bed and old polished pine furniture. A selection of books to browse and a tea tray by the window lead many a guest to while away an afternoon sitting, reading on the wide sill of the mullioned window. The en-suite shower room has a fish theme, reminiscent of Izaak Walton, our famous local angler.
The Family Bedroom
The large family room with en-suite shower room, its' rich tapestry colours and old polished pine, has a comfortable double bed and single bed with another single and cot available on request. Sue's embroidery forms one table top and her grandfather crafted the other. The views are south from the mullioned window, over the garden, organic farm, Manifold Valley, Staffordshire and Derbyshire. As well as a welcoming hot drinks tray, both rooms have radio alarm clocks, books and a real attention to detail.
