The local village pub, delicious interesting food, excellent chef using local produce,  lovely atmosphere. Clean and consistent.  My favourite dish is definitely the Rolled saddle of lamb wrapped in parma ham and sage.  Has dining room, need to book, children welcome. Open daily. Food served 12 to 2pm, 7 to 9pm. Accessible

Carriages Italian Restaurant,On A515 at Newhaven, Tel: 01298 84528 Two railway carriages, a first class Italian restaurant experience, need to book. Open evenings Wed to Sat 6.30 to 10.30pm. Lunches Wed to Sun 12 to 2.30pm

The Izaac Walton Hotel, Ilam, Tel: 01335 350555 Hotel restaurant, superb position beside Dovedale, good food, expensive but probably worth it! Need to book. Accessible

The Bowling Green, Ashbourne, Tel: 01335 342511 Pub with fish as speciality, HUGE meals, expertly cooked, need to book.

The Bulls Head , Monyash Good pub food and restaurant, specialising in locally sourced food. All day Sunday buffets.

The Old Hall, Buxton Opposite the Opera House, restaurant, wine bar, tea-room, excellent quality.

Number Six, Beside Old Hall, opposite the Opera House, Buxton, morning coffee, lunches and teas- lovely atmosphere, simple and stylish tasty food.

Bengal Cottage, Ashbourne Very friendly indian restaurant and take away. Welcomes children, delicious food- but sometimes can take ages!

The Dragon's Nest Cantonese Restaurant, Market Square, Ashbourne
Good food, friendly restaurant. Sunday lunch 'all you can eat' buffet.

The Yew Tree, Cauldon Low a particularly special and unusual pub, packed with curiosities, pianolas, victorian music machines and much much more.

The Barley Mow, Kirk Ireton a completely untouched and unspoilt pub. No soft seats but a lovely old fashioned atmosphere, good beer.

The Old Coach House, Tissington, very pleasant tea-room in converted barn in the centre of the village.
