What Is An Exclusive Beechenhill Eco-wedding?
We offer exclusive hire of Beechenhill Farm for your wedding weekend. We are lucky enough to live in this beautiful place, we would like to share it with you on your special day. A wedding at Beechenhill is not a 'hotel experience'; it is more like getting married in the country home of friends who care about you and the planet.
Our aim: To help you create a loving, eco-wedding experience within a beautiful landscape at our organic family farm.  To go back to a simpler time; a wedding ceremony where people, best friends and family come first.
'Let's wind back time a bit, go back to a less pressurised, kinder and more thoughtful time.'

If you don't want:
•    Formality
•    Frills and furbelows
•    Fireworks
•    To be rushed off the premises because the next wedding is due
•    Fuss and glitz
•    The same experience as everyone else
•    Vol-au-vents, spring rolls and mass produced finger food
If you do want:
•    A place that cares passionately about the environment and tries to be as sustainable as possible
•    Peace and tranquility
•    Giggles
•    A relaxed wedding for up to 60 guests looked after by our family where your family comes first
•    To do it yourself, decorate with apples, flowers in jam jars or gorgeous arrangements, you decide (with our help if you want)
•    A lovely place to stay for the wedding weekend, from Friday afternoon to Monday morning
•    Organic cows next door
•    Plain and simple white crockery and glass wear
•    A beautiful place in Britain's first National Park, the Peak District
•    A simple hay barn
•    To give saplings as wedding favours
•    To bring your wellies to a wedding
•    Paper table cloths or linen, you decide
•    Afternoon tea, cake, champagne followed by a party and hot buffet- or the other way round- whatever you decide!
•    Trestle tables
•    Local live music, be it a ceilidh or a swing band!
•    A low carbon wedding
•    Real, local food, some measured in food meters not food miles
•    Generous food with big flavours
•    Local beer, organic wines
•    Fairtrade and organic products
•    The possibility of the hens or sheep dog wandering into your photos
•    To bask in a Swedish style, wood-fired hot tub
•    To hide away in a wooden barrel sauna corner
•    To book your hen weekend at Beechenhill and create a needlecraft or folk art keep sake
•    Your guests staying in little B&Bs and cottages in and around Ilam
•    A mini-bus shuttle service for your guests so they can relax

We happily offer alcohol-free weddings, with imaginative alternatives such as teas or lovely soft drinks.

Vintage Beechenhill wedding

The Haybarn at Beechenhill

The ground floor, with stone flags and under-floor heating and free wifi, still has the original hayrack and sturdy Victorian pine benches, has a small bar, cloakroom and WCs, one wheelchair accessible with baby-changing table.  The Haybarn is a small venue where acoustic music works brilliantly.

Up the oak staircase, the first floor has glass-fronted gallery overlooking the ground floor and a high roofed, beamed Hayloft where most ceremonies take place.

The Hayloft seats approximately 50 guests, beside the baby grand piano. Other guests arrange themselves along the gallery where they witness the special event.

You can arrange it just how you want- we are there to help you have the perfect family event.

The Rules
We don't have many but:
  • We can only park up to 15 cars, so we work with our little bus company Warringtons in Ilam.
  • We don't do DJs or discos- it just doesn't go with the place. We think real people and live local music fits with our philosophy and the barn, but you are very welcome to make your own playlists and use our speaker system for music between live sets and last thing.
  • You must take all the accommodation on site; All 3 cottages for the weekend (Fri-Mon)
  • We can't have candles or tea lights, the fire officer doesn't approve, so we use lots of lovely fairy lights and LED tea lights and everybody can relax!
  • If you would like to use confetti, please choose natural flower petals and only use on the grass.
  • We can't have sky lanterns- we did once and they ended up draped over our neighbours' farms endangering their animals.
  • Please take your decorations and discarded items home with you.
Thank you!!
